How to achieve more – The question with the answer?

On June 20th, World Refugee Day, in Belgrade Media Centre, Group 484 organised conference How to accomplish more: Refugees and IDPs in poverty reduction processes, in the attempt to empower efforts to resolve main problems of refugees and IDPs in Serbia.
Conference gathered 137 participants from most of relevant sectors, and opening speeches and introduction on refugee and IDP situation were given by Rasim Ljajić, Minister of labour and social politics in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Lennart Kotsalainen, Chief of UNCHR Mission to Serbia in Belgrade, Hans Ola Urstad, Chief of OSCE Mission in Serbia, Dragiša Dabetić, Republic of Serbia Commissioner for refugees, Žarko Šunderić, Manager of Republic of Serbia Government Team for implementation of Poverty Reduction Strategy and Danilo Vuković from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). 24 reporters from various TV and radio stations and newspapers and magazines followed the conference during two days (4 news agencies, 4 radio agencies and 6 TV stations)

New issue of CSCO Bulletin

On our website you can download the third issue of CSCO Bulletin (in Serbian). It represent whole edition with previous (second) issue. Articles in those bulletins are mostly produced through consultative process of regional meetings Group 484 realised with civil society representatives interested and involved in the matters of refugees and IDPs.. You will find in them also gathered knowledge and information’s from dialog with state and international representatives (by phone, e-mail during work meetings and round tables).

Re-Packing

We will mark World Refugee Day on Friday 20th June 2008 at 10-13h on Kalemegdan fortress, plateau in front of pavilion „Cvijeta Zuzorić“. Group 484 is organising action for children and adults: „Re-Packing”. Participants in the programme are children from collective camps for IDPs in Mirijevo and Resnik, and the children from Palilula returnee families. Accompanying children will be their family members, volunteers and representatives of Group 484 and representatives from Palilula municipality institutions, as well as all other visitors of Kalemegdan fortress that wish to join this event.

Children from Palilula on Tiba Festival

For Roma children from Palilula, Group 484 organised trip to Children’s theatre on Tiba festival. They watched two performances – “Brother Grim scary stories” in little theatre “Duško Radović” and “Miraculous world of numbers” at Boško Buha theatre.

“Jelena Šantić” Foundation Award to Free Zone

“Jelena Šantić” Foundation Award for 2008 was presented to the programme “Free Zone” of the Rex Cultural Centre. The Award is presented for the activities in 2007 – film festival in Belgrade, film programme and panel discussions in Serbian towns and the same programme for high schools.

Round table: Palilula our home – Integration of returnees under the readmission agreements into the local community

On March 7 2008, as a final activity of the project, a round table was held at the Majestic Hotel in Belgrade. The round table was attended by 55 participants – representatives of the City Centre for Social Work. Health Centre Palilula, Palilula Municipality, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Republic of Serbia, Service for Human and Minority Right, international and nongovernmental organisations, embassies, media, etc. They all actively participated in the dynamic discussion following the presentations related to the returnee issue.

Seminar "Roma child and school" for leaders of the psychosocial programme for returnees under the readmission agreements

34 representatives of nongovernmental organisations, centres for social work, schools, municipalities other local institutions from Niš, Prokuplje and Vranje attended the seminar on methods of work with Roma children and parents, organised by Group 484. The seminar was held within the project “Support to the process of readmission through sustainable reintegration of returnees from Western Europe in Serbia”.

Law on Social Housing
