Law on Social Housing

Group 484, with the support of the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), and within the initiative for advocacy of Serbian civil society, has started realisation of the project Civil Society Advocacy Initiatives – Advocacy for Social Housing Law.

The project is focused on advocacy for the inclusion of vulnerable categories of population, primarily refugee and IDP population into the legal solutions that will be regulating the field of social housing and housing policy of the Republic of Serbia.

The activities of the project will be focused on conceiving and formulating amendments to the existing draft law, as well as on creating solution for the inclusion of the mentioned categories into other strategic documents, such as the Social Housing Strategy and National Housing Policy.

The activities will be realised through researching practises and legal regulations in the field of social housing in the region and the EU, through round tables with all interested parties and experts in this field, as well as through a series of meetings with decision makers from relevant state bodies responsible for social housing and housing policy in the Republic of Serbia.

The project will last for 7 months, from March to November 2008, and will end with the press conference where the research results and cooperation of state bodies and NGOs in the field of social housing will be presented in the form of policy paper. It will also contain best solutions for the inclusion of vulnerable groups into the housing policy of the Republic of Serbia.
