To mark World Refugee Day Group 484 is organising action for children and adults:
„Re-Packing”
Friday, June 20th, 10:00 to 13:00 hours
On Kalemegdan fortress, plateau in front of pavilion „Cvijeta Zuzorić“
Programme:
10:00 – 10:15: Music performance, Welcome speech
10:15 – 10:30: Sport performance of the children participants in workshop ”Karate – with skills through life”
10:30 – 11:30: Creative workshop “Repackaging – new appropriation of the recycled paper”
11:30: Children’s work exhibition
12:00 – 13:00: Sport and recreation programme – „Mens sana in corpore sanum!“ (a healthy mind is found in a healthy body)
Participants in the programme are children from collective camps for IDPs in Mirijevo and Resnik, and the children from Palilula returnee families. Accompanying children will be their family members, volunteers and representatives of Group 484 and representatives from Palilula municipality institutions, as well as all other visitors of Kalemegdan fortress that wish to join this event.
Trough this program we want to show how creative are children and their potential and capacity to contribute community they live in even they are faced with poverty. Most common notions regarding poverty in Serbia are – carton houses, collecting paper, collecting waste. Through this programme we will show how collected, recycled and hand made paper could have creative use as decoration but also for practical purposes. In this way we will develop children sensitivity to respect and save nature and its resources. Together with other visitors children will use recycled paper to create all sorts of products, for instance: ideal city, everyday life necessities, clothing, postcards, and other souvenirs.
Visitors will be presented with Information desk where volunteers and associates of Group 484, as well as representatives of City Centre for Social Work will provide information’s about possibilities and programmes for improvement of status of refugees, IDPs, returnees, homeless and poor.
